Pilates and functional training mixed together is a perfect recipe for full-body workout that focuses on lengthening and stretching and well as strengthening those week stabilator muscles. You will improve your flexibility, core strength, stability, posture and balance.
Pilates
Pilates exercises target the key postural muscles building strength from within creating a girdle of strength around the torso. Joseph Pilates called this the Powerhouse. The core centre of the body (the lower back and abdomen) are supported and strengthened, enabling the rest of the body to move freely. Pilates balances the body, creating both strength and length. With a focus on stabilizing muscles, your joints will become better supported decreasing the chance of injury.
We recommend Pilates exercises at least twice a week to notice the benefits. Our yoga classes are a great way to compliment the strength you build in Pilates with deep stretching.
